The long-awaited legislation reauthorizing the nation’s surface transportation committee was released in kind today as House Infrastructure Chairman Oberstar and Republican Chairman Mica released the “Surface Transportation Authorization Act of 2009 – A Blueprint for Investment and Reform”.
The document suggests the need for a six-year funding level of $450 billion (SAFETEA-LU was $326) The plan suggests funding levels for highway construction, motor carrier and highway safety, public transit, high speed rail, and congestion mitigation.
