Geoff Clarke and APC Executive Vice President Bob Latham met last week with Deputy Auditor Generals Tom Marks and Ron Deibert along with Randy Marchi, Director of the Bureau of Departmental Audits. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the impact of the ARRA (Stimulus) on contractors – both good and bad. APC reiterated the exemplary nature of PennDOT’s efforts to get the stimulus money on the street for bidding. We also discussed the temporary nature of the ARRA as a jobs generator and the fact that it did hold the industry together in the face of a disappearing private market. APC also reviewed concerns that the end of the calendar month report for stimulus made hiring reporting cumbersome. On May 13, Latham will discuss the industry’s findings with the Pennsylvania Stimulus Oversight Commission.
