The Fall issue of HIGHWAY BUILDER magazine will be dedicated to drawing public attention to the social, economic and mobility contributions made by the men and women of the Pennsylvania transportation construction industry. In a simplistic view, it takes skill at many levels from both the private and public sectors, to build and maintain Pennsylvania’s transportation system.
In this issue, we would like to put a human face on our industry. We are asking our members to contribute by selecting from one or more of the job titles listed below, and providing a brief overview of what the position entails - the part this individual plays in the grand scope of our industry. We will also be asking our PennDOT and FHWA partners to participate by describing the roles their employees play in the industry (a PennDOT inspector, DE, ACE, etc.)
This issue will also be a valuable tool for introducing students to jobs in our industry during our Construction Career Day events.
Your submission should be at least 300 words (this will translate to about a half-page of text) to 700 words. We ask that you also send an “on the job” photo. The deadline for contributions is September 1, 2010. The publication will go to print in mid-October. Please contact Cindy Sells (csells@paconstructors.org) if you would like to highlight some of your employees in this special issue.
