PennDOT Proposes Changes to Longitudinal Joint Spec
The Department is seeking industry’s input on changes to section 409 of Publication 408 regarding longitudinal joints when paving. The changes are step 1 in the clearance transmittal process and are marked in red. Go here to view the changes. Please provide any comments to Jason Wagner at jwagner@paconstructors.org by Tuesday, April 29.

Risk Allocation Committee: Fuel and Steel
Escalation Clauses

Two major items resolved during Tuesday's Risk Allocation Committee were revisions to the Department's diesel fuel adjustment clause and the tentative agreement on a steel escalation clause. APC had submitted a proposed adjustment clause that updated the current specification and added structure items. PennDOT is preparing a Clearance Transmittal on a new fuel adjustment clause. In the meantime, contact Bob Latham for a copy of APC's original proposal and further information.

On steel escalation, the Department favors the index approach in order to cover a broader list of items. An index based on the New York and Connecticut specifications and indices is in preparation. A CT process will be fast tracked. APC will receive draft by tomorrow with response due by next week. We appreciate PennDOT's urgency in moving the process forward.
