Several Contractor members, together with APC staff, have met with Deputy Secretary McAuley and members of PennDOT’s Environmental Section in search of a way to reduce the large quantity waste excavation from PennDOT and Turnpike projects which contains naturally occurring inorganic contamination and is typically disposed of in licensed dump facilities. The goal is to significantly reduce air pollution and added traffic congestion that is a byproduct of the large quantities being hauled over the highways, as well as to reduce the quantity of these materials that may unnecessarily be using up the limited amount of available dump capacity.
