What to Expect
Start the day with coffee and check-in at Hershey Lodge before heading to Shippensburg for a rare, guided tour through Volvo’s wheel loader, excavator, and compactor fabrication and assembly lines. See how some of the industry’s most advanced equipment is built, then explore the Volvo Customer Center and its 40-acre proving ground.
From there, the day moves into professional development and connection:
- Humor as a Leadership Tool, with Dr. Matthew C. Ramsey, Professor of Communication Studies at Shippensburg University. A practical look at how the right kind of humor builds trust and credibility with crews and clients, and how the wrong kind erodes it.
- Paths to Leadership: Career Journeys in Pennsylvania’s Transportation Industry, a candid panel featuring Bradley Heigel, P.E., PA Turnpike Commission Chief Engineer, and Kelly Barber, P.E., PennDOT Chief Engineer (additional speakers TBA). Hear how today’s senior leaders built their careers across the public and private sides of the industry, and get real-world advice for your own path forward.
- Networking Happy Hour to close out the day and connect with peers before returning to Hershey Lodge.
