ARTBA’s Dean Franks told APC members yesterday during our Weekly Online Meeting that the US House has adopted a plan to consider the Senate-passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) no later than Sept. 27. The plan emerged Aug. 24 as a compromise between moderate Democrats and others. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) committed to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill by Sept. 27. If the IIJA passes the House, it would allow President Joe Biden to sign it into law before the federal highway and public transportation programs expire Sept. 30.

What’s next: ARTBA and its members have a month to rally as many representatives as possible to support the IIJA. In the days ahead, we will be organizing outreach for APC members and Keystone Coalition organizations to urge PA House members to approve the bill. Go here to view charts provided by ARTBA that show the substantial increase in funding for PA should the legislation be enacted.
