It is with deepest sympathy that we share that longtime industry leader and past president of APC, Robert “Bob” R. Buckley, 90, passed away on February 13, 2026, at home.

Born and raised in Overbrook, Bob was a graduate of Friends Central High School, Class of 1953, and Drexel University, lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. Standing 6’5” tall, he challenged Wilt Chamberlain in the Inter-Ac League. Bob was a Captain in the Army’s Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.

After the military, Bob joined his father’s construction firm, Buckley & Company, Inc., a heavy civil, highway, and bridge general contractor in Philadelphia, where he started as a laborer and worked his way up to serve as President/CEO and Chairman of the Board. He served as a Trustee/Board Member of Drexel University and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters for his service and leadership to the University and the field of Engineering.

Bob provided leadership in the industry throughout his career. He was APC’s 1984-1985 president having the distinction of retiring the mortgage on the APC Building. He led the way to improving contractor/PennDOT district communication. He served for many years at the APC District 6 Vice president. He was also president of the CAEP and the Moles. Bob and his wife Marlene are members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Wayne. When not engaged in all else, he enjoyed boating and golfing.

Bob is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 68 years, Marlene; and his children Robert (Patricia) Buckley, John Buckley, Marlena Buckley, Kathryn Buckley, and William (Sheila) Buckley; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Read full obituary.
