General Assembly schedules budget hearings. A annual “pause in the action” began this week as active legislative session takes a back seat as House and Senate budget hearings to begin. The House announced its schedule to begin next week and the Senate will begin in early March. The state Department of Transportation will appear before the House Appropriations Committee at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23 and then before the Senate Appropriations Committee at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. Both sets of hearings will be live streamed over the internet, but it is unknown at this time if Secretary Yassmin Gramian will appear before the committee in person or virtually. We will supply the links to watch these hearings in our weekly email updates and also list on the APC website.
Schedule ahead. The Senate will return for a brief set of active voting session days on February 22, but the House will not return until March 15. Both chambers’ Appropriations Committees will be hard at work with a full slate of budget hearings which traditionally occur every February and March. We will continue to report on the activities as they develop as part of our weekly updates and alerts to the membership.
