SEPTEMBER 15, 2021
WHAT YOU CAN DO AS…
On September 15, 2021, Set aside time during the workday to focus on work zone safety with your employees.
Below are some resources we would encourage your company to use for a safety talk as part of your stand-down event.
Introduction to Temporary Traffic Control Safety
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has established a Temporary Traffic Control Safety Training Program (TTCSTP) to improve safety of both workers and the traveling public while maintaining mobility within Pennsylvania’s work zones. With a multitude of agencies and organizations involved with Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) throughout the Commonwealth, it is critical that a comprehensive training program be followed to ensure a safe, efficient, and consistent work zone environment for workers and the traveling public.
Get your crew together to stop, talk and act on work zone safety and line-of fire incidents. Spread the word on social media using the hashtag #SaferTogetherPA.
Pennsylvanians and travelers through the state can anticipate seeing many work zones. While PennDOT, The PA Turnpike Commission and its industry partners are busy improving the 40,000 miles of roadway and 25,000 bridges in its care, we urge motorists to keep safety in mind.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), are implementing a statewide Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement (AWZSE) program to reduce work zone speeds, change driver behavior, and improve work zone safety for workers and motorists.
